About

Welcome to "The Icelander"! Our beautifully renovated end-unit condo perched high on the mountain at Mammoth Point away from the hustle and bustle of Lakeview or Canyon Blvd, which means real mountain views of peaks and pines, and the added bonus of sitting above the smoke layer that blankets lower Mammoth when fireplaces kick on at night. You're actually at a higher elevation than Canyon Lodge. Contact me today with any questions you have about booking our place!

Good to know

Enjoy these features: • Central AC (rare for Mammoth!) • Walk to Canyon Lodge in just 15 minutes — avoid the $40–50 parking fees • 55" TV in every bedroom • Cozy gas fireplace • Ultra-fast 1 Gig Wi-Fi • Cocktail bar cart • Dedicated coffee station • Dedicated tea station • 4 bedrooms / 2 bathrooms • Community hot tub access • Fully equipped kitchen • Gas range • In-unit washer & dryer • Quiet location on John Muir Rd. Shoot me a message with questions you have about our space! We designed this space for the way we actually travel with family and friends. Four bedrooms sleep up to 10 guests across king, queen, and queen-over-queen bunk beds. Every bedroom has its own thermostat, blackout drapes, ceiling fan, and a 55" Samsung TV. Bedrooms: Bedroom 1 (Main Level): King bed with Casper mattress, moon-phase wall theme, Samsung Frame TV, direct access to main floor bathroom. Bedroom 2 (Lower Level): King bed with Novafoam mattress, golden topographic accent wall, personal coffee station, Frame TV, and reading chair. Bedroom 3 (Lower Level): Queen bed with Novafoam mattress, 55" TV, and dresser. Bedroom 4 The Bunk Room (Lower Level): Queen-over-queen bunk beds with memory foam mattresses, PlayStation 5, 55" TV, and workspace with desk. Unlike most Mammoth condos that stick kids in an open loft, our bunk room is on the lower floor giving kids their own world while adults enjoy the upstairs living area without competing noise. The bunks are genuinely comfortable for adults too, though getting into the top bunk does require some flexibility. Living & Entertaining The main living area is split across two levels. Upstairs you'll find the living room with a 75" Samsung Frame TV and Sonos ERA 300 Bluetooth speaker, seating for 6 adults plus more seating on the banquette. Banquette you say? Yes, step down into the sunken conversation pit. We kept the original 70's layout and paired it with a modern gas fireplace and banquette seating. No fussing with wood or smoke, just flip it on. The dining area seats 8, with room for 4 more at the kitchen counter. Kitchen & Beverages The kitchen is ready for real cooking; gas stove with dual ovens, and a well-stocked lineup of appliances. Coffee Bar: Keurig, drip coffee maker, French press, and pour-over supplies. Cocktail Bar: Full mixing kit so you can make drinks at home instead of paying resort prices. Tea Station: For the tea drinkers in your group. Mountain Access: Canyon Lodge is close and you have three options; Drive (3–7 min): When the top of Davidson Rd is open it's 3 minutes. Most of winter you'll take Lakeview, which is 5–7 minutes. Pro tip: one person drops everyone off at the lodge, drives back, and walks over — saving the $40–50 parking fee. Walk Down (15 min): Door-to-door down John Muir, then up Davidson Rd to Canyon Lodge. "Semi Ski-out" (advanced only): Semi-Ski out is the best we could come up with for describing our mountain access, here is what it entails: a 5-7 minute walk UP to the curve on John Muir Rd (about 1500 feet) and you can ski down to Canyon Lodge through the trees. At the end of the day, ski down Bluejay to get back to roughly the same spot. This is only for advanced skiers and riders comfortable with glading. Recovery & Relaxation After a long day on the mountain, we've got you covered with a ski recovery kit featuring a Theragun, rolling balls, and stretching bands. Mammoth Point's covered 10-person community hot tub said to be the biggest in Mammoth and is open noon to 9 PM. Our unit overlooks the community building, but in winter the snow is usually too deep to walk straight down, so you'll walk or drive around to the lower parking lot. Practical Details WiFi: 1 Gbps internet from Optimum with two Ubiquiti access points for full coverage — reliable enough for remote work. EV Charging: The only Level 2 charger in the complex (30A). let us know you want to use it and we'll give you directions to download the app to pay and charge overnight instead of driving to the town's only Tesla Supercharger. Rates are approximately 50–65¢/kWh; not the cheapest, but the convenience is hard to beat. Climate: Dual-zone forced air heating with whole-house humidifier set to ~35%. Each bedroom also has individually controlled supplemental baseboard heating. Bathrooms: Walk-in shower upstairs, shower/tub combo downstairs. Beekman 1802 toiletries in both. Workspace: Desk and office supplies in Bedroom 4 for anyone who needs to get some work done.

Other Details to Note

Guest Verification Note: We use Truvi, a third-party guest verification platform. To be transparent with you it is to ensure guests who might damage our home or have parties are screened out. This helps us de-risk and make every stay as cost effective and safe for both us and you. So after booking, you'll receive a quick verification request from Truvi similar to showing your ID at a hotel check-in. The process takes just a few minutes and includes identity verification using your government-issued ID and a real-time selfie. Optional trip protection: Truvi will also offer you two optional guest protections during their verification process which could cover situations such as the roads in mammoth being closed due to heavy snowfall, or electrical outages. The extra protection is completely optional.

Our family loved this property! There were 7 of us, and we were all cozy. It is so beautiful with thoughtful touches everywhere. We were so comfortable and appreciated the well-supplied kitchen and baskets with extra supplies.
